Following a custom development for a Multi-National customer, Maklaus has developed a system to punch a hole similar in appearance to that made by a normal crowned punch, with a continuous punch system.
The punched hole is formed in a circle with small cuts that break the circumference of the hole leaving the slug connected to the rest of the film in small grip points.
By pushing the slug (when material is under tension), it breaks out leaving a circular hole on the material. When punching on the edge of tubular or folded film (bottom drawing), it will create a half circle impression that will form again a round hole.
